Who I am:

I have an unusual career path with more than 20 years of experience across different working cultures: academia, start-up, and big corporates.

✔ After studying Chemical Engineering, I obtained in 2003 a doctoral degree at the School of Engineering of Porto University and, in 2009, I did a Post-Graduation in Enterprises Management at Porto Business School.

✔ I started my career as Assistant Professor at the Institute Polytechnic of Bragança. As Research Leader at Porto University, I have managed several national and international projects with academic and industrial partners in biorefineries and nanotechnology. In addition, I was the supervisor of several Master’s and Ph.D.’s, and post-doc students, and I trained and coached several young professionals.

✔ As Business Unit Leader at Fluidinova, I developed and implemented a business concept from scratch, from the idea to concrete products and services, in innovative nanomaterials for medical devices, personal care, and pharma.

✔ At BASF, I started in R&D for reaction engineering. Then I was promoted to innovation manager & technology scouter for the Global Operations for Agrochemicals production. At BASF 4.0 Smart Manufacturing department, I led the Global Program for Process Optimization by Big Data. My last position was at Corporate Sustainability as Senior Specialist in Life Cycle Assessment, working on digital tools and databases, focusing on the digitalization of Carbon Footprints.

✔ Currently, I am working as a Smart Manufacturing Leader for EMEA at Cargill Agricultural Supply Chain. In addition, I am president of a non-profit organization, ASPPA, the Association of Portuguese Post-Graduates in Germany.
